I had to move to be able to fade away. I still attended meetings, but at least I barely knew anybody. This made it alot easier to be able to "think" on my own and do a bit of my own research. One day I finally asked myself, "Am I going to meetings because I love Jehovah, or because I'm afraid of him?" Because of this question, I told myself that I wouldn't go until I actually felt a love for him. After a couple of months of not attending meeting, the brainwashing was slowly going away. I decided then to take the leap and find out all I could about the organization from other people's viewpoints. Right then, I knew that I didn't have the truth and I have never stepped foot into a kingdom hall since.

Trying to fade slowly....
by nemo ini am trying to fade slowly, but am finding this increasingly difficult.
i can't sit through a meeting, i had to leave at the 1/2 the other day, because of my recent enlightenment, the hypocrisy is to much for me to take.
as i left you could see the looks on people faces, "oh she's just not spritual enough".

"Jehovah will fix it"
by onacruse ingawwwwwwddd, how many times did i say that, and how many times have i heard it.

"that elder is an unchristian jerk.

I hated that phrase so badly when I was a witness. I always thought, if we had to wait on something that might take 5 years to fix, then what about the next thing after that? And then the next thing after that? If it takes God so long to fix just one thing, when will he ever catch up?

Why didn't Abraham suspect it was Satan telling him to kill Isaac?
by True North inhaven't we all heard of those who've killed others -- even their own children -- after (they claimed) hearing a voice telling them to do so?
most people would consider these ones to have been insane if they really thought they'd heard such things.
on the other hand, some jws, i would suspect, would think that these murderers may actually have heard demonic voices.

The JW Effect ? Lack of life planning
by Gopher inas jw?s we were taught that the day of jehovah was always near.
we were to keep it close in mind.
those using the world were not to ?use it to the full?.

I have to agree with most everyone on this forum. I myself loved Science when I was little but because of Science believing in evolution, or how much time was needed to sacrifice oneself for such a career, that was a big NO-NO. There were many things that I wish I could've done and right now there's many things that I'm going to do. Lately, I've been writing a screenplay and hope to make it into a movie. I also want to be able to play more music. I also love to draw (as can be seen by my photo). I love to do many of these things, yet because of the "end coming" I had never had the time to be able to pursue these areas. So, yes I would say because of the Society's pressure to not be involved in worldy pursuits, I have been screwed. I'm still young and I'm gonna try to do everything I can to make up for it.
And I'd like to say one more thing. And you can quote me on this if you want. "The WTS destroyed my imagination." And now I'm doing everything I can to get it back.

Thanks LittleToe. Love your one word posts. I got another question for you then. What is the meaning of life?

Thank you for clearing that up. Recently I've been reading up on the book "Who Wrote the Bible" and it was the first time that I found out that El meant God. So, if Bethel means "House of God", then what does Babel mean, "... of God"?

What Do You Stand For?
by Corvin inhonestly now, either you stand for something, or get knocked down for nothing.
brother, it seems absurd to be hammering pith like a poet with a loss for words.
trying to describe and angels face .
